Babymoon

Justin and I went to Galveston for a babymoon a couple weekends ago. Apparently I can't get enough of Galveston, I'm down there several times throughout the year. When we went for Mardi Gras back in March we stayed at the Escapes condos. They are really nice condos, I highly recommend staying there. Anyway, we decided to stay at the Escapes again for our babymoon. While we were there I thought it would be a great idea to document "where it all went down" back in March ;) LOL I know too much information. So...this is where we stayed in March..haha!
We went to the boardwalk in Kemah on Friday night. I somehow managed not to take any pictures :( It was a lot of fun though, that place has really grown since I was there last. Saturday we hung out at the beach, which of course is my favorite thing to do. I'm always on the hunt for shark's teeth and seashells. The beach was really clean this time, very little seaweed, which was nice. I found a ton of shells, but no shark's teeth.
You know I have to eat at Shrimp n Stuff when I'm in Galveston. Amazing catfish people! Seriously you have to try it, it's to die for. I could eat it everyday! It's a hole in the wall place at 39th & Avenue o. Stop by there if you get a chance, you'll thank me :)

It was a wonderful babymoon, I didn't want it to end. I'm so thankful the hubby and I had the opportunity to get away for some alone time before Layne gets here ;) We don't have too much longer before we are a family of three!

Good Times with Good Friends

I just love this picture! Here are my two besties, Shelly and Lindsey. We took some pictures before we went to dinner the other night. We go to La Fiesta when Linz comes in town, it's a great tradition and a guaranteed good time ;)

Baby Bump 22-27 weeks

I think it's safe to say that my baby bump is definitely growing...fast!
It scares me to think how much bigger it is actually going to get, it's already so tight ;) Layne is extremely active at night, always moving around and poking me. I guess he is going to be a night owl like his mama. I'll take that over a morning person any day, ha!

Nautical Nursery

Here is a little preview of what's to come! Layne's nursery is going to be nautical! I love love love it so much!

This is the quilt, which you can personalize.

How adorable is the mobile?!

Precious little pillow, again that you can personalize...love that!
I ordered everything...shocking I know (insert sarcasm here) ;) Now I am waiting for Justin to move out the guest bedroom furniture. The nursery furniture is waiting for us to pick up in Houston, but we are waiting until we (we as in Justin) get the room painted. I didn't order the crib in the picture, "PBK's white" is not a stark white. I wanted stark white furniture for his nursery, it makes the bedding "pop". I'll post pics as soon as we get it finished!
I'm still on the hunt for a glider. I want a navy blue glider with white piping...do you know how hard it is to find that! Best Chairs has one navy option, but it's so dark it looks almost black. PBK has a great navy, but it is really expensive. I have yet to talk Justin into buying it, but here's hoping! So if you have any other suggestions, please let me know. I'm running out of time to get one ordered ;)

We Have A Name!

Layne Marshall Buenger

I must say it is really hard to pick a boy name, at least it was for me. Justin and I tossed around a couple different names, but we both really liked Layne. So, we decided to go with it for his first name. We are using Marshall as his middle name, because that is Justin's middle name. So there you have it, Layne Marshall Buenger it is!

It's funny to me all the random scenarios I ran through my head while deciding on a name...for example:

What would our Christmas card look like? Does this name sound sophisticated? Will this name look good monogrammed on everything, such as clothes, halloween buckets, backpacks, bags, blankets, and more clothes (I'm obsessed with monogramming). Does it flow with our names? What would his name look like printed on a wedding invitation? (Mine is hanging on the fridge, that's where that thought came from) And..."Layne Buenger is up to bat next". LOL! Seriously who does this?!

Then I had to write his name on sticky notes and post them all over the house...places like the fridge, back door, and bathroom mirror. I needed a visual to make the final decision :) Justin kept asking me why I put sticky notes everywhere, HA!

It's official now...we love the name and we can't wait to meet our precious Layne Marshall!

Boy or Girl??

It's A Boy!

We are very excited about our Baby Boy!! Justin was ecstatic when the tech told us the news. I don't think I have ever seen him smile so big, it was really precious. We are going to have lots of baseball games in our future ;)

Baby Bump 16-21 weeks

I'm still trying to play catch up ;) Here are my baby bump pictures from 16 to 21 weeks. At week 20 I started having issues fitting into my clothes. That made for good times when I was trying to get ready to go somewhere. I had clothes thrown everywhere! My shirts were too tight or my boobs were hanging out! Then I couldn't get my pants to button or they looked too tight...I'm still hoping it's not my butt getting bigger ;) So I was left with dresses, they worked, thank goodness. I had to do some emergency shopping for a new wardrobe...so headed I to the local maternity stores. That was interesting to say the least, but now I have something to wear ;)

Baby Bump 10-15 weeks

Here is the beginning of my Baby Bump! Justin takes my picture every Sunday before we go to lunch. I like to think I look less bloated in the morning before I eat ;) I'm pretty sure Justin thought I was crazy at first, I had to show him several blogs so he could understand the concept...men ;)
My bump is growing fast!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider - Part 2

As if I haven't had enough spider drama in my life...the saga continues.

Justin and I have been talking about getting a concrete bird bath to put in our backyard for awhile now. We pass a huge concrete place in Hempstead when we drive to Galveston. Since we were headed there for a mini vacation we decided to stop on the way back to see what they have in stock.

This place is huge, they have everything from giant concrete chickens to little concrete wiener dogs. Justin wouldn't let me get one of these, because our house is slowly turning into a wiener dog shrine ;) Seriously though, what is someone going to do with a giant chicken? That will look real good in your front yard...uh no.

Anyway, we walked around this place while it was 100 degrees out. Of course I don't see anything I like that's already put together, so I have to piece together my own creation. That was a task, it's not real organized out there. Justin and the workers didn't really appreciate having to lift heavy concrete over and over. I have to have a visual though...how am I supposed to know if the top looks too big for the pedestal? Put it on there, let me see it put together! :)

After we made the final decision I headed to the bathroom, since this preggo lady has to pee all the time. When I was washing my hands I noticed something crawling on my purse. Seriously again! It was one of those black and white hairy jumping spiders! I threw my purse on the counter and it flew off. I grabbed my purse and darted out the door. Sorry ladies, I wasn't killing it and I didn't have my dust buster! I had to leave it crawling on the bathroom counter, I was already at my limit with spiders.

After the bird bath was loaded we headed home...

We stopped by my parents house to pick up Callie, while we were there I wanted to show them our latest purchase. I opened the back to my tahoe and once again I am faced with a ginormous spider! Inside the base of my bird bath...this is where it gets serious...is a Black Widow!

At this point I don't understand why this keeps happening to me. That's a lot of spider encounters in less then a week!
So back to the serious problem at hand...there is a black widow in my car. Keep in mind, it traveled with us all the way from Hempstead, that's like 2 hours! Now you have to think...is there more than one, were there babies! Holy crap there is an extremely poisonous spider in my car!
We hurry home...Justin unloads everything, nothing is allowed in the house until it is thoroughly inspected. He assess the situation on the pedestal, the spider has not moved. However! He discovers legs of what was probably its mate and two baby spiders. Great. Now I have to worry if there are baby black widows in my car?!
Justin checked our luggage and everything else that was in the car, he doesn't see anything. Thank the Lord! He then vacuums the car and sprays it with "spider killer". Hopefully, that killed anything that happened to crawl away!
Now, with three spider attacks under my belt, I've had a belly full. I had to form a plan of action immediately! Let me introduce you to my new best friend...
They came out on Wednesday to spray the house and the yard. They also guaranteed that I wouldn't see anything else. If I do happen to see something they will come back out. Well Mr. Terminx, if I do see something don't worry, I will call you and you will be coming back out! I know that the other two spider issues were a freak thing, but I'm not taking any chances. The Terminx man was a must ;)

I'm proud to say that so far (fingers crossed) I haven't seen anything. YAY!

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

Let me start off by saying I have a huge fear of spiders. It's not the small ones in corners that bother me, it's the huge spiders that will creep in under the door that I can't stand.
Ok...so the other night at 1:00 a.m. I let Callie and Bleu out to pee. Callie prefers that I walk out into the grass with her, so I do. Well, they do their business and we come back inside. I got back in the bed and started checking my Facebook on my iPhone. Then, I feel something by my hip...
I get out of bed pull my pajama pants down and there it is, the mother of ALL spiders! Just a little side note here, I didn't have underwear on (they are not comfy to sleep in), which in my mind makes this situation even worse. Hello! It was by my hip, which means it crawled all the way up my pant leg! Eww!!
I strip down and run for the dust buster. The Dyson DC31 is my weapon of choice. I don't want to kill the spiders or touch them, so I suck them up in the dust buster then dump them in the yard. No touching required, very nice!

Anyway...I run back to my bedroom pantless with my weapon locked and loaded. Now, thank goodness the spider didn't run off, it was still in my pants. Here's the problem...that spider was so big it wouldn't suck up into the dust buster! Are you kidding me! I fought with that thing for 10 minutes trying to get it sucked up. Keep in mind it was running from me, hiding underneath the towels I had on the floor for the dog. At one point I lost it...great. I start to panic, because I am not about to stay in my house with that spider running around. So the search continued...all the sudden it crawled out the end of my dust buster! Holy Crap!

Another side note here...my husband was asleep in the bed through all of my screaming. Seriously! How is that even possible?! And...thanks for the help!

The spider fell to the floor...lots of praying going on at this point! Please let me get this nasty thing back in this dust buster! Thank the Lord I got it back in there! This time I held down the suction and ran outside. The dust buster had to stay outside that night until Justin could break it down and make dang sure that spider wasn't in there somewhere, because it was not it the container. Again...that's how big it was!

Now I refuse to walk in the grass at night...never again.

13 Weeks

Here is our baby at 13 weeks! We went to the doctor on May 6th to get the results from some testing we had done. No worries, everything looked great! We have a very active baby, always on the move! Thumb sucking and kicking my bladder rank pretty high on his/her list of favorite things to do. The ultrasound tech found this to be quite entertaining, so did my husband. My bladder...not so much. We did get to take home some great pictures from the ultrasound, I'm very thankful the baby was cooperating for the photo shoot ;)

Baby's First Picture

Ok let's start at the beginning....

I found out I was pregnant March 7th, well that's when I took an at home test ;) I had to wait an entire month before I could go to the doctor, since they won't see you until you are 8 weeks. I must say having to wait a month to find out everything was ok was not fun. Well, that and having no idea what I can and cannot do! So I hit the books and the internet, wow was that overwhelming. I ran across some things that I did not need to know. Talk about freak you out ;)

My first doctors appointment was on April 8th. Justin and I got there on time, filled out some paperwork, and waited to be called back. I don't know what the deal is with my doctor's office, but it takes a long time to be called. We finally get back there and had to wait some more; my doctor got called to a delivery! Ugh. The nurse came in and asked if I wanted to reschedule...are you kidding! I'm already sitting here naked from the waist down and finally getting my anxiety under control, no I'm not rescheduling. LOL ;) Thirty minutes later the doc shows up (yay!). That delivery must have given him a run for his money, because he had on so much cologne. Ha!

We did the typical chit chat then got down to business. He checked out the baby with what had to be the biggest ultrasound probe ever! I thought to myself...You're going to put that where?! LOL ;)

Thank the Lord everything looked great on the ultrasound, we were right on track! It was so exciting to see our precious little baby for the first time ;)

I have so much catching up to do! I'm already 18 weeks and I haven't blogged a thing! My sis in law is not happy with me :) More post to come, I promise!

Doggie Wall Decals

I was browsing Etsy today and I ran across this... I laughed out loud! The dog is peeing in the house, Ha! I have never seen anything like this before! I found it to be very interesting, so I continued my search and apparently there is a whole world of dog wall decals out there. Here are a few more I found.
I can get on board with this one, it's pretty cute!
I linked the pictures to their Esty shop, if you want to check it out. Enjoy!

Whimsy Doxie

Persnickety Pelican (love that name) is a wonderful shop on Etsy. They offer this cute whimsical dachshund on a wide variety of products, such as bags, cards, soap, and pot holders. My personal favorite is the throw pillow.
This pillow would be a super cute Valentine's Day gift for a doxie lover!

And let's not forget this dishtowel that will match perfectly in my kitchen! Now if I could just get them to make a black and white piebald dachshund. I have the perfect model, Callie the Doxie ;) They have so much to offer, check out their etsy store, Persnickety Pelican.

Buckets of Fun

Thank you Pottery Barn Kids for these wonderful canvas buckets! I bought Callie the small bucket couple years ago, but now her toys are overflowing! Everywhere you step there is a stuffed monkey, tennis ball, or something that contains a squeaker. That made it official, we needed to upgrade to the bigger bucket, asap. I ordered the red bucket (of course) and labeled it "Dog Toys", it turned out so cute! Love it! They are also on sale people, you should jump all over this. What a super cute way to organize your dog toys ;) Funny side story: When I was checking out it asked what age child I was shopping for (little survey I guess). Well, I didn't really know how to answer that question. Maybe they could add 3 year old wiener dog as an option!

AVATAR

Have yall seen this movie yet? Justin and I saw it last night, it was awesome! You really should go see it, I highly recommend it. It might be far fetched for some, but I really enjoy things like that. Obviously, since I have a slight obsession with Twilight. I use that the term "slight" very loosely, truth be told, I should probably be checked into some Twilight rehab center, HA! Don't even get me started on Twilight, everyone needs a little Edward in their lives ;) Anyway, back on topic, AVATAR was the most visually stimulating movie I have ever seen. You know it made you ponder what it would be like to live in a world that "glowed" at night, or maybe even the possibility of a pet dragon, ok maybe you didn't go that far, haha! Truly though, the effects are amazing, it's a must see! I will be headed back to the theatre before too long.

Just Maui'd!

Aloha everyone! Here is the slide show from our honeymoon in Maui. I'll warn you now, I took a ton of scenery pictures. Everything was so beautiful, I was trying to capture the memory of it all ;) Justin talks about going back all the time, maybe I can get him to take me back for our anniversary. I should probably start working on that now, ha!

Hello Long Lost Friends!

It's been such a long time since my last blog and man have I missed it! Let me update you on everything that has gone on in my life since April, I've been a very busy girl!

Justin and I got married on October 24, 2009!
One word to describe our wedding...Perfect! It was everything I wanted and more. I plan on posting a slide show of wedding pictures, so stay tuned!

Then we were off to Maui for our honeymoon. Beautiful! I highly recommend vacationing in Maui. We lounged on the beach most days, snorkeled, and drove the "Road to Hana". Definitely rent a jeep for that drive (so you can take the top off), it takes all day but it's worth it :) The scenery is amazing, lots of waterfalls to see! I'll get the honeymoon pics on a slide show soon. We also bought our first house! That was a task to find the "perfect" one, but we did! We had to do a few updates (paint, scrape popcorn off the ceilings, and texture), but now it looks amazing! Here it is all decked out for Christmas. Did I mention it snowed on Christmas Eve in Texas, that's a first! You know I looked like a fool all bundled up standing in the middle of the street taking pictures of the house. Ha!

There you have it! The wedding planning, house buying, and remodeling have kept me very busy the past few months. Here we are in 2010 and I have finally slowed down long enough to start blogging again, yea! As for Callie, she is doing fabulous!
